DAN Chamber Orientation Course

Decompression Illness (DCI) is mentioned briefly in Open Water and later in other courses. We know that most divers don’t really understand DCI and it’s treatment. We have designed this course as a way to educate divers about DCI. We feel confident that upon completion of this course, divers will have a much broader understanding of DCI, signs and symptoms, treatment and, most importantly, the prevention of it.

What we will cover in our orientation course:

  • Predisposing Conditions
  • Contributing Factors
  • Mechanism
  • Signs, symptoms, and treatment

Goals of this course:

  • Explain how DCI works, what causes it, and what it looks like
  • List benefits of early recognition and treatment
  • Explain recompression and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
  • Identify various treatment schedules
  • Practical application
