Become a Dive Pro in Paradise!

   Utila is the perfect place to start your dive career. It is a beautiful island with numerous palmed beaches, great places to make new friends over a sunset drink and is home to the Whale Shark. It's also the diver training capital of the Caribbean, ensuring you the real world experience needed to become an excellent Divemaster or Instructor.

   BICD, and Jim McClendon a full time - resident PADI Course Director, is pleased to offer you the training that will give you an edge in the recreational dive industry, Our training philosophy is not focused on completing exams, but on preparing you to be a strong team member wherever you choose to work.  Our unique Divemaster and Instructor internships will give you the chance to acquire valuable working experience that will give you the edge when we help you find your dream job.

   We guarantee a maximum 6 candidates per Course Director with language support in English, Dutch, German and Spanish; so you can be assured that you are receiving the best training with the highest degree of attention on you. Furthermore we offer quality job placement services with our network of BICD alumni and industry connections.

   You’ll benefit from a more fun, rewarding and innovative experience. We take time for more thorough counseling & training, you receive your training directly from one of our Course Directors. We will prepare you for the adventure of a lifetime, wherever you choose to go.
 

Divemaster - $750

    Start your Professional Dive Career off right with a total immersion in our Divemaster Program. This course is the foundation of your successful future in the recreational diving industry and the most sought after professional diving certification worldwide.

    We have developed our program to address the high expectations of employers and differentiate our graduates from Divemasters who may have trained elsewhere. We strive for the best blend of training philosophy, curriculum, staff, facilities, experience, reputation, atmosphere and fun!

                 What makes our PADI Divemaster program so different?

   Join the Divemaster program at the BICD and get trained in Whale Shark Awareness! Once you have completed this distinctive specialty you are able to assist on data collection trips. Your role is as photographer; snorkelling with the Whale Sharks while helping us, Project Aware/Whale Shark and Eco Ocean accumulate visual data for Whale Shark conservation!

    Finally, let’s take a closer look at what your Divemaster course will involve. Below is a list of the additional components in your course at BICD

·        Compressor Maintenance & Operations

·        Fill Station Operations & Orientation to Gas Blending

    As you are trained to become a dive leader we will help you develop your problem solving skills through theory and practical experience. Not only will you gain real life working experience but the opportunity to shadow a professional Dive Master allowing you to develop your communication skills and customer service.

     You will Intern with our Instructors while they teach courses to actual students. From this approach you can gain experience in a variety of roles you may encounter as a PADI Professional in the dive industry. You will gain a better understanding of the challenges that come with running a dive business and what sort of a career in diving you wish to pursue.
