Our 5 START IDC
Facilities
Bay
Islands College of Diving operates its
PADI 5 Star Career
Development Center, from premises located on the tropical
Caribbean island of Utila just off the coast of
Honduras.
All
our Instructor Development takes place in our
NEW IDC dedicated area, with the water work
taking place either in our on-site training pool, in
confined water just off the dock directly in front
of the dive centre, or off shore at one of our
pristine locations just 5 min boat ride.
Just a few steps from the pool is our Dive centre
where you find our internet café, free for BICD
students.
Just around the corner from our training centre you
will find our Technicians Work Shop – very useful if
something goes wrong with your equipment during the
IDC/IE – this area also houses our extensive rental
equipment with a large secure area storing your own
dive gear.
The first floor is where our main IDC classroom is
located - this was purpose built for IDCs with state
of the art facilities.
The
main classroom here seats 14 students and staff and
is complete with, wooden paneling, sound proofing,
air conditioning, white boards, video, projector
screen, LCD projector, computer and offers full
multimedia support. Each table even has it's own
power sockets to accommodate the increasing number
of IDC candidates using computers and digital
accessories.
Our PADI library, complete with all digital
products, is located next door for your convenience.

There is a staircase to the open roof area - a large
shaded recreational area that houses our famous “Bar
Acuda” with an endless supply of coffee, tea, and
cold water .great for a quick snack, lunch and
dinner-rated as some of the best food on the island
with a view over the Ocean and on a clear day (so
when isn’t it?) you can see the mainland and a haven
for those that need that cigarette (or 3) before the
next presentation.
We
also use a dedicated Diving Medical classroom for
the EFR and the various DAN consumer and Instructor
courses we run.
The Utila Lodge an exclusive Dive Resort is located
next door.
We have two other classrooms which are used as back
up class rooms or if we need to break the class
down.
Next to the pool (which by the way has it’s very own
“hot-tub”)are the classrooms and equipment room with
compressor, tanks & weights and an area for you to
store your dive equipment.
For
the IDC Open Water training we either go right off
"our" dock which is 20m away from our classrooms &
equipment room, or we go to one of the beautiful
sites dotted around the south side of the island all
within 15mins boat ride.
Conditions are calm for most of the year making it
ideal for IDC training.
We
also use these reefs for a variety of local
Specialty Instructor Training programs after the
IDC.

We
did say we had a hot-tub for relaxing after that
taxing pool session!!
All in all we have the best training facilities
available in Central America - perfect for your
Instructor Development!!!!
