PADI Divemaster

Start your Professional Dive Career off with the most in depth, total immersion course, with our Divemaster Program. This course is the foundation of your successful future in the recreational diving industry and is the most sought after professional diving certification worldwide.

At The College, we have developed our program to address the highest industry expectations of all employers and we differentiate our graduates from simple Divemasters who may have been trained anywhere else.

What makes our PADI Divemaster program so different?

Let's face it, you'll be trained at THE COLLEGE of diving. Along with your other DMT (Divemaster in training) colleagues, you'll find the perfect balance between totally immersing yourself in every aspect of diving and, at the same time, partying like it's 1969!

The modular design of the Divemaster course, allows for you to determine your own pace, together with your personal mentor here at The College. Some people manage to finish their training in just two weeks, others prefer to take it nice and slow over a period of two months. Whatever your pace, you'll find the way we organise this course extremely tailored to your needs.

Join our Divemaster program at The College and get trained in Whale Shark Awareness! Once you have completed this distinctive specialty you are able to assist on data collection trips. Your role is as photographer; snorkelling with the Whale Sharks while helping us, Project Aware/Whale Shark and Eco Ocean accumulate visual data for Whale Shark conservation! This is unique to The College!

What will your Divemaster course involve?

First of all, you will get assigned a personal mentor. This will be one of our experienced instructors, who will follow up on your progress during a weekly meeting.

He will also help you with the knowledge development segments and prepare you for passing the final exam.

Building further on your Rescue Diver course, you will create an Emergency Assistace Plan for a dive site in Utila and complete a Diver Rescue Assessment.

You will learn how to perform all your diving skills at demonstration quality during weekly organised dive skills workshops.

After your first skills workshop, you'll be allowed to assist on Open Water, Advanced and Rescue Courses at The College. Together with the instructor, you'll work out the logistics for the courses, help new students overcome learning difficulties and improve on your own knowledge of the PADI courses. This is fun! Especially on logistically challenging courses with multiple DMT's.

When your skills as a divemaster really start to shape up, you'll have the opportunity to get on the Utila Lodge Resort Boat and assist the Lodge's top Divemaster Josh to lead certified divers on trips to Utila's Northside.

Furthermore, you'll complete waterskills exercises (swims), divemaster conducted programs workshops and learn how to make a divesite map.

But of course, you're choosing THE COLLEGE. That means we will go just a little bit further than the regular shops on the island...

Below is a list of the additional components in your course at The College. These surpass the standards set by all other schools, ensuring your employability upon completion:

  • Hyperbaric Chamber Orientation and Dry Dive
