You share your experiences with your students, teaching them safety, an attitude of stewardship for the aquatic realm, and expose them to the limitless potential that recreational diving has as a hobby. The PADI Instructor Development Course(IDC) is a challenging program that develops your teaching techniques, familiarizes you with the PADI system, and orients you as to how the diving industry works as a whole. In conjunction with a PADI Course Director, you complete classroom presentations, Confined Water presentations(to get ready for the ocean components), and how to conduct Open Water training dives. Once the IDC is completed and you feel ready, you attend a PADI Instructor Examination(IE) and begin conducting courses as soon as your teaching authorization arrives. The PADI Instructor Development Course(IDC) is a challenging program that develops your teaching techniques, familiarizes you with the PADI system, and orients you as to how the diving industry works as a whole. Why take the IDC at The College?

We take extra time at BICD to complete the program, conducting the IDC over 13 days. This creates an environment where you can relax and explore the island, have time for fun dives, and spend additional time on the areas you’d like to develop further. You feel comfortable and prepared for the Instructor Exam and the career that awaits you.

We have an outstanding facility, including a conference room for IDCs, the only hyperbaric chamber on the Island, large boats, and well-maintained equipment. We also have a great team of experienced dive professionals that you get to mingle with and observe in action.
