The Instructor Development Course at BICD
Teaching new divers is one of the most rewarding careers you will ever experience. Along with the adventure, new friendships and lifestyle change comes a responsibility: to ensure your students are safe divers and to instill in them a desire to appreciate and protect the aquatic realm.
The PADI Instructor Development Course – IDC
The choice to become a PADI Instructor is one of the best career choices you can make. You can enjoy a high standard of living in many of the most beautiful tropical environments throughout the world, with a great lifestyle full of new experiences and cultures, all while meeting like-minded people and having fun.
The IDC is comprised of two modules: the Assistant Instructor (AI) and Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). Completion of the AI allows you to go on to the OWSI. Completion of the OWSI allows you to complete the challenging Instructor Examination (IE) and become a PADI Instructor.
THE IDC at BICD
The BICD Instructor Development Course is a candidate centered 12-day program. Our IDC is longer because the Instructor Examination has evolved to include assignments from more PADI programs (Adventures in Diving, Rescue Diver, Divemaster and Specialties) and we feel a need to dedicate more time to fully cover each module. We have designed our IDC to minimize the stress of the candidates, to give the candidates much more personal attention and comfort, and to better prepare our candidates for the Instructor Examination and, most importantly, for the professional path that awaits you.
Our program involves more time actually working with all the programs that you’ll be authorized to teach as an Open Water Scuba Instructor. You will learn the latest teaching techniques, use the complete system of PADI support materials and be given positive assessment of your improving instructional skills throughout the IDC. We will also use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to meet individual student needs and work within the local environment You will be given additional teaching presentations to refine your skills, which will better prepare you for your new career.
Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers. This means you will be entering into one of the most respected professions in the diving community. PADI Instructors are the most sought after in the recreational diving market. You are going to be opening doors and working in places most people only dream about.
