PADI TEC 40
Technical Diving Course Utila

The Tec 40 Diver course is the first step into decompression diving. This means diving outside of conventional non-stop diving limits. This programs teaches you how to properly set up and use a technical diving rig, appropriate for this type of diving. During your training you will eventually learn to safely conduct limited decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40m/130ft.

The complete PADI Tec 40 Course costs 560 USD.

WARNING!

Technical diving is substantially more dangerous than recreational diving. Even if you follow all procedures and do everything right, the technical diver is still exposed to a significantly higher risk of serious injury or death. Technical diving is not a natural progression for every diver but for those who are willing to accept the added risk and approach their dives with an attitude of increased responsability and seriousness, technical diving can be very rewarding.

Simply enrolling in the Tec 40 Diver course will not automatically result in certification and our instructional team will expect outstanding performance throughout the course, as well as a thorough understanding of all concepts and diving techniques at the end of the program before certification will be issued.

YOUR TRAINING

Once you have all the required prerequisites and medical clearance, you will start the accademic portion of your training. Technical diving theory requires a bit more studying but our instructional team will guide you along the way and introduce you to desktop decompression planning software.

After learning how to properly set up a technical diving rig, it’s time to practice your technical diving skills in limited open water. Slowly we’ll move on to deeper water sessions and simulated decompression dives to make sure everyone is capable of taking the next step.

In the final stages of training, the team executes a real decompression dive to a maximum depth of 40m/130ft with a total of 10 minutes of decompression. Our primary objective: end the dive safely with all team members.

After successfully completing your Tec 40 Diver exam, you will be a qualified Tec 40 Diver.

HYPERBARIC CHAMBER ORIENTATION

To make sure you are a well-rounded Tec Diver, our PADI TecRec Tec 40 course will start with a complimentary visit to the Utila Hyperbaric Chamber and Trauma Center for an orientation on hyperbaric treatment. This orientation will highlight the procedures for treatment of decompression related injuries, as well as the clinical realities of the risks incolved in decompression diving as learned in the Tec 40 Diver course.
